Welcome to Kate Summers Pilates. I am a REPS Accredited Level 3 Certified Pilates Teacher with a Sport and Exercise Science Degree. I have a certification in Pre/Post Natal Pilates and Orthopaedic Conditions. I teach Mixed Ability Pilates classes. You can therefore work at your own pace as the exercises are varied with different levels for every exercise. The classes are of a small group and they are run in a fun and friendly environment.
Pilates is good for your health. Pilates strengthens the body in an even way by focusing on core strength to improve general fitness and wellbeing. A regular Pilates class can help you to tone up, stay fit and reduce risk of injury from everyday movements.

I have been in the Health and Fitness Industry for over 20 years. I joined Holmes Place (currently Virgin Active) in Notting Hill on a graduate scheme when I was 21, after completing my degree. I began as a Fitness Instructor and I taught many Fitness Classes, including Body Pump, Body Balance and RPM.
I took some time out after developing a labrum tear in my hip following key hole surgery to repair the tear. I returned to the Fitness Industry and now teach Pilates, Body Pump and Body Balance (a combination of Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates) in all the local Sport Centres in Beckenham, Bromley and West Wickham.
What is Pilates?
Pilates is great for lengthening and strengthening muscles. It helps improve flexibility, muscle imbalances, posture, co-ordination and good breathing technique.
Many Pilates exercises are designed to strengthen the centre of the body. The central area includes the abdominal muscles, lower back muscles, pelvic floor, the muscles in the hips and the gluteal muscles. Strengthening these muscles will create a stable core and a stronger back. Having a strong core will take pressure out of your lower back and other joints, which can help reduce the risk of injury. Back pain often comes from poor posture, Pilates can help re-align your spine and improve your posture.
Pilates is a gentle form of exercise, the better you understand your body and how it works, the easier it will be for you to release tension and stress. Pilates is recommended by leading Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and Osteopaths.

All classes last approximately 60 minutes. Based on block sessions or drop in. Classes must be booked in advance.
First taster session is Free
Class Session: £8.50 (When you book every session within the whole term)
Drop in: £10
Private 1:1 lesson: £50 home visit / £60 hall
Mats, blocks and any other Pilates equipment will be provided. Loose fitting clothing and water is recommended.
Terms and conditions:
All classes must be booked in advance. A block of classes must be used each week, however I am flexible if you have a holiday and let me know two weeks in advance. However classes are not transferable if you are unable to attend.
Every participant will be asked to fill out a health questionnaire form before they start a class.
